CLOTHING, PACKS, SHOES, ACCESSORIES

It is no secret that Arc’teryx has been one of my favourite brands for many years now. Introduced to it when I first went to Canada and bought my first piece (Gamma MX Hoody) to today, where my gear cupboard probably has close to 100 different pieces. Hard and Soft Shells, Insulation (down and synthetic), Hiking and Approach Shoes, Trail Running Shoes, Hats ands Beanies (Toques), Pants, Shorts, Shirts, Tees (technical and casual) and of course packs and Harnesses. It is hard to go wrong with it, looks and feels great, lasts forever and more importantly…. has never let me down. From the muddy, puddle soak tracks of South West Tasmania, the arid crags of Mt Arapiles, deep power of Japan and Utah, the back country of Canadian coastal and rocky mountains, to the 8000m peaks of the Himalaya. It’s the brand I trust most.

TENTS, SLEEPING BAGS

I was first introduced to Mountain Hardware in 1999 when working at an outdoor store in London. Massive Pro Deals enticed me to buy both a tent and a couple of sleeping bags. 20 years later, I have finally killed the tent (only the fly) and the sleeping bags are still going, despite 100s and 100s of days of use. I bought another MH tent without hesitation and certainly will look at replacing my sleeping bags with newer MH bags. Great gear that also lasts.

PACKS

The Macpac Cascade hiking pack was the first pack I ever bought. I have literally had a 1000 days of use with it and it would be more except it was stolen along with much of my other gear. It’s has survived Federation Peak (3x), Precipitous Bluff, South Coast Track, Western and Eastern Arthurs, The Overland Track (3x), 18 years of Outdoor Education Camps, 20 years of world travel (Europe, North America, Asia and New Zealand) and way way more.

Other BRANDS I use.
